Use and Care of dj's touch Creations

Please call or email us if you have any questions about use and care of dj’s touch creations.

Pottery

To preserve the finish, our pottery should NOT be used in microwaves or ovens, or on stovetops. Our pottery is not dishwasher safe; it should be hand washed and dried.

Raku and Horse Hair pottery should be considered decorative.  Raku fired pottery is NOT food safe and should NOT be used to hold liquids. Horse Hair fired pottery is also NOT food safe and should NOT BE EXPOSED TO ANY LIQUIDS. To clean, brush very gently with a soft dry cloth or feather duster.

Knitted Creations

Our knitted creations MUST be hand-washed in cold water and dried flat. We recommend Eucalan or Soak wool washes because they are concentrated, require no rinsing and leave the fabric wonderfully soft. Both Eucalan and Soak are available unscented and in a variety of scents.

Because of the elasticity of the yarn, our hoop purses will expand to hold a lot. The dimensions shown in the web galleries are based on purse size before stretching. The lining includes two small pockets and one large one. The lining has been made larger than the purse so that, when the purse expands, the lining can expand with it.

Silk Wrap Clothing

Vintage silk fabric is delicate and needs to be handled with care.  Slight irregularities and variations in weave and colors are characteristic of the fabric and shouldn’t be considered defects.  Because the fabric is recycled, you may encounter small stains or discolorations.  These can often be removed with a Baby Wipe or Grandma’s Spot Remover (sold at better fabric stores).  For overall cleaning, you can wash by hand (never machine) in a rinse free cleaner (like Soak or Eucalan), drip dry, and cool iron.  You can also try the Dryel dry cleaning at home system.  We find a high quality, environmentally safe dry cleaner is often the best approach, certainly in the case of significant soil or stain removal.
