Loom Knitting Tools & Materials

We offer a full range of loom knitting tools, as well as looms and instruction books, crochet hooks, stitch markers, yarn needles, tape measures, row counters and more—everything you need to get started or fill in missing items including over 800+ different yarns are great discounts.  Looms run $15-$23 for a set of four round or long looms (depending on which type you get).  If you’ve already got some knitting/crocheting tools, here are some helpful items to bring (you can purchase anything you need from us at great discount prices):

  • Size I (eye) crochet hook used to assist in some types of casting on and binding off.  Also great for picking up those pesky dropped stitches (because everyone drops stitches now and then).  We stock the flat face aluminum style because we find the yarn less likely to slip off the hook accidentally.
  • Large (2.75” or 7mm) blunt tip metal tapestry needles that are easy to thread (we find metal easier to work with than plastic)
  • Small spiral notebook (steno pads are great) and a pen/pencil for making notes with words and drawings that make sense to you
  • Assorted stitch markers and catchers (these come in an assortment of styles; if you don’t already have some, check out ours first for an explanation of which style fits which use)
  • Small pair of scissors or other tool for cutting yarn (in addition to scissors, we also stock airline approved cutters so you can keep knitting in the air)
  • Tape measure (we stock clever sheep and bumble bee tape measures that will make you smile every time you use them)

Knifty Knitter now has “Loom Clips” you can use to customize the size of your Knifty Knitter Long Looms (the squashed oval ones).  The clips can be used to do seamless increase/decrease of tube knitting (for example, shaping the crown of a hat without the pain of a four panel decrease that has to be seamed).  They are also a great way to convert your loom to do smaller items like the body and thumb for mittens.  We also stock the Instruction Book Knifty Knitter created specifically for using loom clips.  The clips and book are very inexpensive (clips djt price $3; book djt price 75 cents)—check them out next time you’re in the studio.

FREE Knifty Knitter Smaller Gauge Adult Hat Loom or Set of 4 Knifty Knitter Round or Long Looms

We are offering a FREE Knifty Knitter Adult Hat Loom (MSRP $8.99; djt price $7.50) with each purchase of 5 hours ($50) of prepaid knitting classes.  This loom is a great way to try knitting a slightly smaller gauge to get a tighter knit with less bulky yarn.  Although called the “hat” loom, like any round loom, it can also be used to knit scarves and other flat panels as well.  You can purchase as many prepaid knitting class hours as you like and earn another free adult hat loom for each 5 hours.  We also have the 14-page Knifty Knitter Adult Hat Loom Pattern Book available for purchase (djt price 75 cents) to help get you started.

We're also offering a FREE Set of 4 Knifty Knitter Round or Long Looms (MSRP $19.99; djt price $15) with each purchase of10 hours ($100) of prepaid knitting classes.  You can purchase as many prepaid knitting class hours as you like and earn another free set of 4 looms for each 10 hours.

You can use your classes in any 30 minute increment (as little as 30 minutes or as much as many hours at one time as you desire).  All purchases of prepaid classes are final—no refunds, exchanges or credits offered.  But there’s no time expiration on the use of your prepaid classes and you may transfer some or all of them to friends or family members whose loom knitting efforts you’d like to help support.  To take advantage of this bonus offer, email or call me as soon as possible—this offer is good for a limited time while supplies last.

Loom Rental Program and Décor Accents Gauge Samplers

Interested in trying out different gauge custom looms but concerned about spending a lot of money on something you may not like?  Have no fear.  I now stock one each of nearly all the custom wood looms offered by Décor Accents (including fine and extra fine sock looms in all sizes for those of you who think you’ll love knitting full fashion socks to wear with shoes).  Rent a loom for $1 a day so you can try out custom looms and different gauges before committing to me ordering them for you.   Or get a feel for different gauges by purchasing a set of Décor Accents gauge samplers.  This is a set of five 6” long looms in five different gauges (regular, small, extra small, fine and extra fine).  They fit easily into your purse or tote and are perfect for knitting fashion scarves on the go.  Now you can minimize the risk of satisfying your curiosity about knitting smaller gauges by renting looms or buying a set of sampler looms.

dj’s touch Loom Knitting Primer

As many of you already know, last year some of our students convinced us to begin putting together a loom knitting primer that summarizes basic loom knitting skills and tasks.  Students have found it helpful to have an instructional reminder that uses the same language we used when we taught them in class.  To date the primer has words and no pictures and it is free to our students.  Our only requirement is that you may not copy the primer or distribute it to other people without the express permission of dj's touch.  We don’t charge for the primer because we want to offer it as a service to our students.  But the information is proprietary and covered by copyright law.  From time to time, we update the primer with additional skills/tasks as appropriate.   If things ever slow down, we may even add pictures at some point.

Personalized Loom Knitting Skill Builder Plans

Interested in expanding your range of loom knitting skills?  We now offer personalized skill builder plans.  This begins with a 1 to 2 hour individual meeting with one of our instructors to complete a loom knitting skills inventory (which building blocks you already know how to do and those you’d like to learn to do over the next year).  We then determine the optimal order for you to learn the new skills and you pick from a range of projects we’ve identified that will help you practice and learn one or more of those skills.  There are usually multiple projects from which you can learn a particular skill, so you can choose something you’ll enjoy doing/wearing or giving as a gift.  At the end of each project, we check in to confirm your progress against your plan and make any adjustments.  If you’re interested in building a personalized loom knitting skill builder plan, email or call dj's touch to set up a time for your initial planning session.
