Deborah Jane Wells - The Artist of dj's touch

Deborah Jane Wells, Founder

Retired in 2005 from a 30-year career in management consulting, I now have the opportunity to focus full-time on what I love most – art creation and instruction, writing, and life coaching.  The common denominator in these seemingly disparate interests is my fascination with the endless possibilities inherent in diversity and transformation – corporate, individual and elemental.  My passion has been demonstrated in corporate communication, diversity and change management consulting; individual coaching and teaching; and the transformation of diverse elements into mixed media artistic expression.

I am an Artist, Author and Life Coach living in beautiful Aurora, Colorado with my husband and three furry children Sid, Morty and Maisy. As a life coach, I blend the elements of creativity, spirituality, wellness and vocation to help you create the balanced life you choose – a life of deep peace, lasting joy and meaningful relationships.  By reconnecting your “soul and role” – identifying your purpose, unleashing your passion and reshaping your way of being, thinking and acting – you can achieve rapid, extraordinary, sustainable results. I encourage the creation and celebration of art through www.djstouch.com and my Aurora, Colorado studio boutique. In my online book, The Art of Living - Enjoy the Journey, I share my message of hope with the world at www.djwlifecoach.wordpress.com.

A student of the arts for over 50 years, my creative endeavors have included:

   - Knitting and crochet
   - Sewing, quilting, needlepoint, counted cross-stitch and crewel
   - Throwing and hand-building pottery
   - Directing and performing in musicals, operettas, cabarets and choirs
   - Sculpting polymer clay
   - Painting watercolor, oils, and folk art
   - Writing and photography
   - Facilitating creative recovery/discovery groups.

I was born with a passion for fashion and became smitten with sewing during my first 7th grade home economics class. While my consulting career moved sewing off the radar for 30 years, I am now back in full swing designing, creating and teaching. I specialize in piece-in-the-hoop machine embroidery techniques that make quilting easy, fast and fun.  By far, my favorite sewing is wearable art fashion - where I produce unique interpretations of patterns from today's hottest designers.

In the fiber arts arena, I fell in love with loom knitting because it eliminates the challenge of consistent yarn tension, making it easier and faster than needle knitting and crochet but just as versatile and creative. I provide
individual and small group instruction and develop my own loom knitting designs - creating everything from hats and scarves to purses and kimonos.

Trained by master potters Louis "Barry" MacHale III and Marianne McKee, I create original pottery as a member of the Aurora Potters Guild using a variety of clays, glazes and firing techniques.

In addition to performing with the Prairie Unitarian Universalist Choir and serving as assistant conductor, I was also Musical Director and Assistant Stage Director for the Fall 2007 Eagle Bend Players' production of Oklahoma.

May my stories and art encourage and inspire you
to live a life of purpose and passion every day.

You are loved and loving.
You are blessed and a blessing.
                    Namaste.
